Sabre Women’s Soccer Suffers First Shutout Against Lawrence

Marian University women’s soccer (2-3-0, 0-0-0 NACC) was shutout for the first time this season falling 2-0 to Lawrence.

  • Marian had the best opportunity in the opening minutes but senior Kate Mayfield would be denied from point-blank range.
  • The Vikings were able to strike first in the 26th minute off of a corner kick that the Marian defense failed to clear.
  • There would only be on shot the rest of the half in a defense filled opening 45 minutes.
  • Lawrence was able to control play in the second half and added to its lead in the 61st minute.

Junior Kate Mayfield was the lone Sabre with multiple shots, one of which was on goal.
Freshman Maya Gray played all 90 minutes.
