Marian University women’s lacrosse (3-11, 2-5 NACC) saw another first-half lead slip past them in a 14-9 loss to CUW.
- Marian held a 4-2 lead after the first quarter after the duo fo freshmen Elizabeth Van Ryzin and Talia Bellotti each scored a pair of goals.
- The Sabres were able to add to their lead and held a 7-4 lead going into halftime.
- Belotti and Van Ryzin each scored for Marian in the second quarter along with sophomore Chloe Yanez.
- The Falcon rally began in the third quarter with CUW knotting the score at 8-8 going into the final 15 minutes.
- Van Ryzin was the lone goal scorer for Marian in the third quarter.
- The Falcons capped off a stretch of five unanswered goals to take an 11-8 lead in the fourth quarter with 11 minutes to play.
- Bellotti, with help from fellow freshman Shaelyn Klassen, helped keep Marian in the game at 11-9.
- CUW was able to close out the game with three unanswered goals, however.
- Concordia Wisconsin had a 40-19 edge in shots and outshot Marian 17-1 in the final quarter.
- Neither team had a strong day on clears with CUW going 11-for-20 and Marian 12-of-23.
- The Sabres limited CUW to 5-of-12 shooting on free-position shots.
- CUW has won all nine meetings against Marian with this being the closest margin.
