Sabre women’s lacrosse has late rally fall short against Vikings

Marian University women’s lacrosse (2-3, 0-0 NACC) tied the game after trailing in the fourth quarter but fell to Augustana (Ill.) 12-11.

  • The opening quarter saw six goals all come in the first 6:36 of the game.
  • Marian had four of the six scores with four different scorers to lead 4-2 after the first 15 minutes.
  • Senior Emma Heide netted her second of the game 53 seconds into the second quarter to build the Sabre lead to 5-2.
  • The Vikings then stormed back with four unanswered goals to take the lead at 6-5.
  • A woman-up goal from senior Nicole Stqachon tied the game with 1:04 left until half, but AC managed two goals in the final 18 seconds to take an 8-6 advantage into halftime.
  • The third quarter was a defensive battle but saw Augustana extend its lead to 10-7.
  • Heide had the lone Marian score for the quarter.
  • Marian responded dominating the opening minutes of the fourth quarter tying the game at 10-10 with 9:59 to play.
  • The two squads traded woman-up goals to put the tally at 11-11 before the Vikings netted the game-winning woman-down score with 3:19 to play.
