Sabre women’s lacrosse drops nailbiter to UW-Stout

A slow start proved too costly for Marian University women’s lacrosse (3-4, 0-0 NACC) falling to UW-Stout 7-5.

  • The Blue Devils had a strong start scoring two woman-down goals and a woman-up goal to elad 3-0.
  • Senior Izzy Newton answered with a woman-up goal of her own, but the Blue Devils took a 4-1 lead into the second quarter after scoring with 12 seconds left.
  • The Sabres netted the only two goals of the second quarter with seniors Emma Heide and Mackenzie Gaulke each finding the back of the net.
  • UW-Stout had another strong start to the second half expanding its lead back out to 6-3.
  • Heide and Newton scored the final goal of the third quarter and first goal of the fourth quarter to only trail 6-5.
  • The Blue Devils were able to put the game away with a woman-up goal with 3:43 left to play.
