Sabre women’s hockey suffers sweep to LFC

Marian University women’s ice hockey  (5-5-0, 3-5-0 NCHA) was defeated 4-2 in its final game of the first half of the season.

  • Marian held an edge in shots in the first 20 minutes with neither side finding the back of the net.
  • Lake Forest opened the scoring at the 10:08 mark of the second and added to its lead with a power-play goal with 2:54 on the clock.
  • Marian responded with a power-play goal of their own with only 28.2 seconds remaining in the period.
  • Junior Jessica Tadevich lit the lamp for Marian with assist from junior Olivia Laube and sophomore Zowie Hunter.
  • The Foresters had a strong start to the third padding their lead to 3-1 just 3:39 into the final stanza.
  • The final LFC goal came with 3:05 left to play but Marian scored 36 seconds later to trail 4-2.
  • Laube took the puck from the Sabre defensive zone and did all the work herself to score the goal.
  • Marian spent 2:08 of the final minutes with an empty net but couldn’t come any closer.
