Sabre women’s hockey settles for split with MSOE

Marian University women’s ice hockey (6-12-3, 4-7-3 NCHA) was defeated by MSOE in its NCHA series finale with the Raiders 3-1.

  • The Raiders opened the scoring with a pair of power-play goals, one being 5-on-3 and the other 5-on-4, separated by just 1:09 in the opening period.
  • The 2-0 score held going into the second period before senior Dayna Jones scored just 47 seconds into the stanza to cut the Marian lead in half.
  • MSOE had a response at the 3:46 to extend its lead back to two.
  • A scoreless third period saw the 3-1 final hold up.

  • Marian held a hefty 38-24 advantage for shots in the game with at least 10 shots in all three periods.
  • MSOE finished with a slim 31-25 advantage for draws.
  • The Sabre power play was scoreless on five chances, while MSOE was 2-for-7.
  • Marian and MSOE split the season series with the Sabres earning two 1-0 victories and the Raiders a pair of 3-1 wins.
