Sabre women’s hockey eliminated from NCHA Slaats Cup contention

Marian University women’s ice hockey (7-17-3, 5-10-3 NCHA) had its season come to an end after a 7-0 defeat at CUW.

  • Marian was able to stay close and only trailed 1-0 after the first period.
  • The Falcons then scored two goals separated by 44 seconds, the second being a short-handed score, to lead 3-0 after two periods.
  • CUW netted a pair of goals in the first 7:26 to build its lead to 5-0 before finishing the game with two empty-net scores.

  • Marian was outshot 41-15 in the defeat.
  • Neither side had a power-play goal with Marian having four chances and CUW six.
  • The Sabre defense had 12 blocked shots.
  • This was the seventh time Marian was shutout, second time against CUW.
  • The Sabres are still in search of their first victory in the NCHA Slaats Cup Playoffs.
  • Marian falls to 5-33-6 all-time against CUW.
