Sabre women’s bowling holds off UWW to win GLBC first event

Marian University women’s bowling earned a victory at the first GLBC event of the season with 7,243 pins.

  • The Sabres had a strong start to the weekend posting the highest team total during traditional play at 4,588 pins.
  • After averaging 871.3 over the first three games, the Sabres found another gear for the final two games scoring 1,045 and 929 pins.
  • Baker format started slowly for Marian with a 155 after the first set.
  • The Sabres bounced back, however, scoring at least an average of 165 pins over the final three sets.
  • Marian had an especially strong third set averaging 176 pins.  The Sabres had a games of 189 and 199 to finish that set.
  • The Sabres were able to edge UW-Whitewater by just eight pins and UW-Madison by 37 pins to win the event.
  • The Marian junior varsity team finished with 6,926 pins, which would have been good for fourth in the varsity standings.

Jocelynn Eggert won the event and was the only bowler to average over 200 at 206.4.  Eggert finished with games of 229 and 233.
Elana Rimer finished in second after averaging 197.2 pins.  Rimer had a high game of 247 and two games with at least 200 pins.
Zoey Bur earned a third-place finish averaging 193.6 pins.  Bur also had two games with at least 200 pins with a high of 215.
