Sabre women’s bowling finishes 19th at Music City Classic

The Marian University women’s bowling team bowled in its final regular season competition finishing 19th at the Music City Classic.

  • Marian opened the event in 19th after going 2-3 over five Baker matches.
  • The Sabres earned wins over Sacred Heart and Howard averaging 181.8 pins.
  • Marian had a high game of 1,048 come in the victory over Howard.
  • Then in traditional play, the Sabres finished with a similar 2-3 record and sat in 20th heading into bracket play.
  • Marian was able to earn victories over Mount Aloysius and Valparaiso in the traditional format and averaged 873.8 pins over the five games.
  • The Sabres were very consistent in traditional play with scores ranging from 840 to 904.
  • Marian opened bracket play with a convincing sweep of Emmanuel University with the lowest margin of victory being 26 pins in the second game.
  • The Sabres then squared off with the No. 17 seed Lincoln Memorial and went all seven games
  • Marian had a pair of games with more than 200 pins in the match-up, but fell in the decisive seventh game 190-163.
  • Marian was then matched up with Valparaiso again and needed all seven games for a second straight match.
  • Marian opened with a 3-0 lead on the Crusaders after rolling games of 213, 224, and 193, respectively.
  • After Valparaiso took the next three games, Marian held off the comeback with a 186-171 win in the seventh game to claim 19th.

Jocelynn Eggert led Marian finishing 62nd with a 186.0 average.  Eggert posted a high game of 208.
Brenna Schiekiera was only two spots back of Eggert averaging 184.6 to take 64th.  She had a high game of 204.
Abbey Giddings overcame a slow start to bowl a 224 in her final game and finish 72nd.  She averaged 180.4 pins.
