Sabre women’s bowling eliminated from NCAA Tournament

 Marian University women’s bowling had its season come to an end after being swept by No. 4 Youngstown State and No. 11 Louisiana Tech.

  • The Sabres gave Youngstown State all they could handle to open the morning and led in the early going of traditional play.
  • A solid final three frames from the Penguins turned the tide, however, as YSU took teh traditional point with a 1,006-978 victory.
  • Then in Baker play the Sabres couldn’t keep up with Youngstown State as four of the five Penguins finished with more than 200 pins.
  • The sweep was concluded with a 1,011-868 Baker total pinfall.
  • Then in an elimination match with No. 11 LTU, Marian had a slow start in traditional play and couldn’t recover falling 945-797.
  • The Sabres had a much stronger showing in Baker total pinfall, but was unable to force a third game falling to the Bulldogs 1,017-965.

Junior Kyley Olson had a 215 in traditional and 196 in Baker against Youngstown State.  She also had a 203 in Baker against Louisiana Tech.
Senior Jocelynn Eggert led Marian in traditional play against Youngstown State with a 219.
Junior Elana Rimer had a 225 in Baker against Louisiana Tech.
