Marian University women’s basketball (0-2, 0-0 NACC) fell to No. 21 Hope 90-48 and UW-Platteville 72-45 to open the season.

- Against nationally-ranked Hope, Marian only found itself down 24-15 at the end of the first quarter and 43-29 at halftime.
- The Flying Dutch were able to pull away outscoring Marian 24-6 in the third quarter.
- Then against UWP, Marian only trailed 23-17 after the opening 10 minutes.
- The Pioneers were able to pull away in the second quarter after outscoring Marian 18-7.
- Marian hung tough in the third quarter only being outscored 16-13 before a strong finish from UWP put the final at 72-45.

- Marian only shot 33-of-111 (.297) between the two games and 9-of-36 (.250) from beyond the arc.
- The Sabres also committed 47 turnovers at the tournament while only forcing 20 turnovers.
- It was the first meeting between Marian and Hope, while UW-Platteville improved to 3-0 against the Sabres.
