GAME 1

  •  Offense was at a premium as both pitching staffs showed their stuff.
  • Each team had opportunities to score but neither squad would strike for the first 13 innings of action.
  • The Cougars would strand the bases loaded in the eighth and Marian the same in the bottom of the 13th.
  • After the top of the 14th opened with two outs, Concordia Chicago would hit three straight singles and a double to plate three runs.
  • The Sabres would go down in order in the bottom half to suffer the game one defeat.

GAME 2

  • Game two was similar as neither side scored through the first five innings of action.
  • Marian was finally able to score its first run of the day in the bottom of the sixth when junior Kendall Pliner drove in a run with a single.
  • This was answered by CUC in the top of the seventh to send game two into extras.
  • Neither team put together any dangerous chances until the bottom of the 11th.
  • A leadoff single from Pliner, K. opened the frame.
  • After a one-hit hit by pitch and walk, Marian found themselves with the bases loaded and one out.
  • Sophomore Sofia Cerullo then played the role of hero driving a ball to left field for a single to earn the walk-off win.
