Sabre softball drops first NACC Tournament game to Lakeland

Marian University softball (24-19, 12-12 NACC) will face elimination after dropping its first game of the NACC Tournament to Lakeland 4-1.

  • Playing its first game of the tournament, Lakeland was able to get out to a strong start taking advantage of an error in the first to take a 1-0 lead.
  • A double in the second bumped the Muskie advantage to 2-0.
  • A lead off walk helped pave the way for freshman Savanna Knuth to drive in freshman Kathryn Albright with two outs in the fourth inning to cut the Sabre deficit in half.
  • The Muskies answered in the next half inning to lead by two again and added an insurance run in the sixth.

Sophomore Ariana Schliepp was 1-for-2 with a walk and her pinch-runner scored a run.
Freshman Savanna Knuth was 1-for-3 and drove in the only Marian run.
Freshman Sabrina Di Vito tossed the final 3.0 innings allowing one run on three hits.
