Marian University men’s volleyball (9-9, 3-3 NACC) was defeated 25-14, 25-18, 25-23 by No. 7 Cal Lutheran to open the Cal-Lu-Fornia Invitational.

- Marian trailed just 12-10 in the opening set before Cal Lutheran went on a 6-1 run to pull ahead.
- The Regals ended the set scoring four of the final five points.
- After a 6-4 start for CLU in the second, the Regals were able to once again pull away going on a 6-2 spurt.
- Cal Lutheran opened the third set with an 18-13 advantage but Marian was able to make things interesting scoring five of the next six points and trail by just one.
- The two squads traded points the rest of the way, however, leading CLU to a sweep.

- The Regals finished with a 39-30 edge for kills and 33-29 advantage in digs.
- Marian had a tough time defensively as CLU hit .413 in the match with just six hitting errors.
- Cal Lutheran held a 14-3 edge for blocks at the net.
- Marian is 0-3 all-time against CLU.
