Sabre men’s volleyball swept at Domincian

Marian University men’s volleyball (7-7, 1-2 NACC) suffered a sweep at Dominican with scores of 25-13, 25-14, and 25-21.

  • The opening set had Dominican open with an 8-5 lead and the Stars pulled away with an 8-1 spurt.
  • A 5-1 run from Dominican near the beginning of set two put the Stars ahead 11-5, which proved to be the difference.
  • The Stars were able to take a 2-0 lead after scoring five unanswered points to end the set.
  • Marian jumped out to an early 5-2 lead and brought that advantage to 17-14.
  • Dominican then went on a 7-1 run to lead by three.
  • The Sabres stayed in the set only trailing 22-20 but Dominican would score three of the next four points to secure the sweep.

  • Dominican had a 40-26 advantage for kills and 39-27 edge in digs.
  • The Stars also had six aces and an 8-1 lead for total blocks.
  • This is the fourth time this season Marian has been swept.
  • Marian is just 1-12 all-time against Dominican having dropped the last nine straight.

Senior Derek Wills had a team-high eight kills and four digs.
Senior Aaron Velasco had a match-high 12 digs.
Senior Trent Goo Sun had nine assists and three kills with a .429 hitting percentage.
