Marian University men’s soccer (1-1-1, 0-0-0 NACC) fought for all 90 minutes, ultimately losing 5-1 against No. 14 UW-Platteville and taking their first loss of the season. 
 

• UW-Platteville jumped out to a 1-0 lead, with Ethan Dietrich scoring early at 5:51.
• The Pioneers extended the lead, tallying on two more goals by Danny Gutzwiller to take a 3-0 lead into halftime. 
• Nathan Blazenko got the Sabres on the board with a penalty kick goal at 52:47. 
• Two more goals by UW-Platteville cemented a Pioneer victory. 

• Marian recorded more saves than Platteville, leading the category 4-3. 
• The Sabres managed four shots on goal, compared to Platteville’s nine. 
• Platteville saw 35 players take the field during the game, a vast difference from Marian’s 19. 
• This was only the second time in the last five match ups where Marian avoided a shutout by Platteville, with the other occasion being a 2-1 loss in 2017. 
• Marian is now 2-8 all-time against the Pioneers, with their last win coming back in 1995; a six-game losing streak.

	Senior Nathan Blazenko scored the lone goal of the game, coming off a penalty kick. This was his first goal of the season.
	Junior Tyler Hall (1-1-1) played all 90 minutes and recorded five saves, a career-high for him.
	Sophomore Esteban Alvarado played all 90 minutes, the first 90-minute game of his career and was able to interrupt several Pioneer possessions.
