Sabre men’s hoops gears up for postseason

Marian University men’s basketball (16-9, 9-9 NACC) closed out the regular season falling to St. Norbert 78-63.

  • Both offenses struggled in the opening minutes as Marian led 12-11 with 10:02 left in the half.
  • St. Norbert was able to find its grove going on a 21-7 run to lead by 13 with 3:18 on the clock.
  • The halftime horn would sound with the Green Knights leading 35-24.
  • The second half was all SNC for the most part as the Green Knights gradually extended its lead and led by as many as 32 points.
  • The Sabres were able to go on a 15-2 spurt to close out the game and put the final at 78-63.

  • Marian finished 20-of-53 (.377) from the field and 7-of-25 (.280) from beyond the arc.
  • St. Norbert shot 25-of-54 (.463) and 8-of-23 (.348) on triples.
  • The Green Knights held a 34-22 edge for points in the paint and 44-27 advantage for rebounds.
  • The Sabres are now 5-10 all-time against the Green Knights.
  • Marian will enter the postseason as either the No. 5 or No. 6 seed depending on the result of MSOE at Concordia Chicago later today.
  • With a Cougar win, Marian would travel to MSOE for the NACC Tournament Quarterfinals, and will head to CUW if MSOE is victorious.
