  • The Sabres bowled well in pool play finishing with the third-best pinfall at 4,698 pins.
  • Marian would be a little unlucky, however, as they would only manage three points to finish fourth in the Sowards pool.
  • This put Marian in a tough match-up for bracket play against UW-Whitewater, but the Sabres were up to the task taking the first two games in the best-of-five.
  • The Warhawks would storm back, however, taking the next three games including a 227-203 win in game five.
  • This sent Marian to the contenders side of the bracket where Marian easily took care of Coe in its first match-up 192-170 and 205-180.
  • The Sabres then faced off with UW-Milwaukee where Marian bounced back after a loss in game one to advance with wins of 189-146 and 226-206.
  • The run of three-set matches continued as Marian continued to roll through the contenders bracket defeating Muskingum 215-210 in a winner-take-all third game.
  • Then against UW-Plattevile, the Sabres and Pioneers would split the first two games which were both decided by less than 10 pins.
  • The final game was just as close as the magical run for Marian closed with a 196-183 defeat against the Pioneers.
