Sabre men’s basketball rallies to force overtime with SNC

Marian University men’s basketball (13-6, 6-6 NACC) rallied to force overtime but fell to St. Norbert by an 82-77 final.

  • The two squads played tightly for most of the opening half leading to a 23-23 stalemate.
  • St. Norbert then usd a 14-4 run to take a 10-point lead with 1:33 in the half.
  • A lay-up from junior Brandon Adorno cut the Sabre deficit down to 37-29 going into the break.
  • The Green Knights came out of halftime shooting and scored the first nine points to lead by 17.
  • Marian gradually chipped away at its deficit until th score was 58-46 with 10:26 left.
  • The Sabres then used a 16-2 spurt to retake the lead at 62-60 with 5:38 on the clock.
  • The largest lead for the remaining of regulation was just two points as the two sides went back-and-forth.
  • Freshman Harper Krolak would hit a pair of free throws with 29.7 on the clock to ultimately force overtime.
  • St. Norbert managed to hit three triples and led 78-72 with 1:32 remaining.
  • Marian was able to cut its deficit down to four with nine seconds left but the Green Knights were able to hold on for the win.

  • This is the first overtime defeat for Marian in three games.
