Sabre men’s basketball drops first home game of season

 Marian University women’s basketball (11-2, 4-2 NACC) was defeated at home for the first time this season 75-64 against CUW.

  • Marian scored the first six points of the game and led for most of the opening half.
  • The Sabres built their lead to as large as seven points but trailed in the final seconds.
  • A layup from junior Brandon Adorno in the final seconds put the game at a 33-33 draw going into halftime.
  • After some back-and-forth play, Marian found themselves ahead 47-45 after a pair of free throws from senior Eli Vogel.
  • The Falcons then scored nine straight points to lead by seven with 9:15 to play, a lead they would not relinquish.
  • Concordia Wisconsin led by as many as 12 points before the final settled at 75-65.

  • Marian was 23-of-58 (.397) and 6-of-22 (.273) from beyond the arc.
  • Concordia Wisconsin shot 23-of-50 (.460) and 6-of-18 (.333) on triples.
  • The Falcons were also 23-of-28 (.821) from the charity stripe.
  • CUW finished with a 20-6 edge in fast-break points.
  • Marian falls to 33-47 all-time against CUW with defeats in the last three games.

Junior Brandon Adorno scored a game-high 30 points, his second performance this season with at least 30 points.
Senior Eli Vogel chipped in 13 points to go with three assists.
Junior Alex Vassilakis grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds and had two steals.
