Sabre field hockey suffers season sweep against Centre

Marian University field hockey (5-5, 2-3 SAA) fell at Centre 3-1 to conclude the season series with the Colonels.

  • Centre was able to start quickly scoring just 2:06 into the game.
  • Despite the slow start, the Sabres were able to play evenly with Centre.
  • Marian was able to tie the game when freshman Angelene Castro netted a goal just 3:45 into the second quarter.
  • The knotted score of 1-1 held going into halftime.
  • After a back-and-forth start to the second half, Centre retook the lead with 7:29 left in the third quarter.
  • The Colonels extended its lead scoring 3:34 into the final quarter to set the final at 3-1.

  • Penalty corners were in favor of the Colonels at a 13-5 clip.
  • Each squad committed 49 fouls.
  • Centre has now defeated Marian in all four meetings but by multiple goals for only the second time.
