Sabre field hockey closes out CFHC play

Marian University field hockey (6-10, 1-4 CFHC) fell to Rhodes 2-0 in its final match of conference play.

  • The opening quarter was quiet as both sides began slowly on the offensive end.
  • Rhodes created a couple of opportunities in the second half but the score would remain 0-0 after 30 minutes of action.
  • The Lynx scored off of a penalty corner just 2:45 into the third quarter to open the scoring.
  • Another score off of a penalty corner with 5:03 left to play saw the Lynx extend its lead to 2-0.
  • The Sabre offense was able to create some pressure in the final minutes but were shut out for the seventh time this campaign.

  • Rhodes had 26 shots with 18 being on goal to only one shot on goal for the Sabres.
  • The Lynx finished with a 19-1 edge in penalty corners with 13 of them coming in the second half.
  • Marian was called for 67 fouls to 44 for Rhodes.
  • Marian is now 1-6 all-time against Rhodes having been outscored 8-0 in the two match-ups this season.

Sophomore Emilee Clarey (4-10) had a strong bounce-back performance making a career-high 16 saves.
Freshman Clara Guivernau Ragghianti had the lone Marian shot on goal.
