Rep. O’Connor Responds to Governor Evers’ Final State of the State Address

State Representative Jerry O’Connor (R- Fond du Lac) released the following statement in response to Governor Evers’ final State of the State address:

“In his final State of the State address, Governor Evers was right about one thing: progress is made when both sides are at the table. The successes mentioned tonight were made possible by the Republican legislature advancing ideas and the Democrat governor signing them into law. From record funding for K-12 and special education to tax cuts for seniors and hardworking families- Governor Evers needed bills and budgets passed by the Legislature to accomplish any of it.”

“We exist in a divided government and we must work within that system. The people of Wisconsin who elect us to represent them in Madison expect us to find common ground on issues to move our state forward.”

“It is my hope that a deal will be reached once again between both houses and the governor to deliver relief back to Wisconsinites in the last few weeks of session. We need to return this surplus to the hard-working, Wisconsin taxpayers and take the pressure off of them as their property taxes and cost of living rises across the state. At the end of the day, this is your money- not the government’s.”
