Quick strikes lead MSOE past Sabre women’s soccer

Marian University women’s soccer (4-3-3, 3-2-0 NACC) closed out a three-match homestand falling to MSOE 4-1.

  • The two squads played fairly evenly for the first 20 minutes of action.
  • MSOE was able to strike twice in a span of just 1:06 to take a 2-0 lead with just 6:10 until halftime.
  • The Raiders were able to take a 3-0 lead scoring 10:15 into the second half, and scored a fourth time 7:33 later.
  • Marian was able to create chances in the final 15 minutes, and a handball in the box allowed junior Jacqueline Campos to bury a penalty kick for her first goal as a Sabre.

  • The Sabres were outshot 25-5 for the game and 15-4 for shots on goal.  Marian was only outshot 9-3 in the final 45 minutes.
  • MSOE had four corner kicks to only one for Marian.
  • Marian finishes its first homestand of the season 1-1-1 with the lone victory coming against Aurora.
  • The Raiders extended its winning streak over Marian to seven games.

Junior Jacqueline Campos scored her first goal as a Sabre on a penalty kick.  She was also the lone Marian student-athlete with multiple shots.
Sophomore Chelsea King made 11 saves with 10 of her stops coming in the first half.
