The reconstruction of the Forest Avenue Bridge will be discussed at a public involvement meeting. This bridge crosses over the East Branch Fond du Lac River in the City of Fond du Lac.
The meeting will be held on Wednesday July 2, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Fond du Lac City-County Government Center, 160 South Macy Street, Fond du Lac, WI 54936. Residents are encouraged to attend.
The existing single-span prestressed concrete box girder bridge will be replaced with a new two span concrete flat slab bridge at the current bridge location. The project also includes reconstruction of the roadway approaches. Small areas of right-of-way acquisition and temporary limited easements are anticipated at this time, including at Hamilton Park (a Section 4(f) property). Work consists of bridge removal, grading, concrete masonry, pile driving, storm sewer, crushed aggregate base course, concrete pavement, curb and gutter, concrete sidewalk, erosion control items, and landscaping items.
During construction, the existing Forest Avenue roadway and bridge will be closed to traffic. Construction is currently scheduled for summer 2027.
The purpose of the meeting is to present the preliminary plans of the work scheduled for the bridge construction project, discuss the proposed schedule, and gather public input. Any comments or questions that may be of interest to the design team are welcome.
The meeting will begin with a short presentation to provide an overview of the project, followed by time for questions and answers. Representatives from the City of Fond du Lac and MSA Professional Services, the design firm leading the project, will be available to discuss project details, address comments, and answer questions.
