Offense keeps rolling for Sabre women’s hoops

Marian University women’s basketball (6-15, 4-8 NACC) won its second straight game defeating Illinois Tech 81-69.

  • Illinois Tech was able to jump out to an early 11-4 lead before Marian used a 7-2 spurt of their own to only trail 13-11.
  • The Scarlet Hawks responded building its lead to as large as nine before taking a 22-16 advantage into the second quarter.
  • Marian opened the second quarter on an 8-2 run to tie the game at 24-24.
  • After a 27-27 dead lock, the Sabres finished the quarter with a 18-4 run to lead 45-31 at halftime.
  • Marian built its lead to as large as 20 and cruised the entire second half to an 81-69 final.

  • Illinois Tech shot 25-of-77 (.325) in the defeat and went 8-for-34 (.235) on triples.
  • The Sabres held a 40-26 advantage for points in the paint.
  • Defensively, Marian had a season-high eight blocks.
  • Marian remains undefeated against Illinois Tech improving to 7-0.

Sophomore Kaylee Nowak finished one rebound shy of a double-double with 10 points and nine boards.
Senior McKayla Goebel had eight points to go with six assists.
