No. 13 Marian ACHA D2 defeats UWO to finish first half

No. 13 Marian University ACHA D2 (12-3-1, 2-3-1 NCHL) closed out the first half of the season with a 6-1 win over UW-Oshkosh.

  • Marian dominated the opening period and quickly was able to take a 3-0 lead.
  • Jace Weber was able to start the scoring at the 8:27 mark with help from Anthony O’Neal and Justin Newlin.
  • The Sabres led 2-0 with 7:51 left in the opening stanza when O’Neal lit the lamp, assists to Devon Butler and Weber.
  • Newlin then got in on the action with 3:17 left in the period to give Marian a three-goal lead.
  • The Sabres added to its lead when Ashton Underhill scored at the 9:51 mark of the second period.
  • The Marian lead built to 5-0 with O’Neal scoring again with assists to Butler and Weber.
  • The 5-0 lead held going in to the final period where UWO ended the shutout with 7:35 on the clock.
  • A short-handed goal from Gavyn Galloway just 3:25 later set the final at 6-1.

  • Neither team had a power-play goal with UWO having six chances and Marian five.
  • The Sabres are now 20-1-0 all-time against the Titans.
