NACC releases preseason poll for men’s lacrosse

Marian University men’s lacrosse received 55 total points to finish the NACC preseason poll in 11th, as voted on by the head coaches and sports information personnel of the conference.

Aurora was picked as the favorite receiving 280 points and 17 of the first-place tallies.  Newcomer and affiliate to the NACC, Lake Forest followed with six first-place votes and 270 total points. Concordia Wisconsin picked up the final first-place vote and had 231 points, 10 points ahead of Dubuque who is also new to the NACC this season.  Illinois Tech, Benedictine, and MSOE finished close together with 178, 166, and 160 points, respectively.  Edgewood was he final squad to finish with more than 100 points at 121.

Cornell followed in ninth at 87 points followed by Lawrence at 63 who will be playing its inaugural season.  Marian and Beloit closed out the preseason poll at 55 and 40 points, respectively.

The top six teams at the end of the regular season will qualify for the NACC Tournament with the winner of the conference tournament earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III National Tournament.

Marian opens the season Saturday, March 1 at home hosting Carroll at 3 p.m.
