Moran announced as assistant coach for Sabre softball program

Kiwi Moran has been announced as an assistant coach for the Marian University softball program.

“Kiwi is going to be a great addition to our softball program,” said Director of Athletics Tony Draves.  “Her knowledge of the game, passion for success, and desire to impact young women in our program has us all excited to get to work.  Welcome to Marian, Kiwi!”

Moran joins Marian after spending last season as an assistant coach at Illinois College.  The Lady Blues had another successful campaign going 25-18 with a 13-3 ledger in Midwest Conference play.  This earned IC a spot in the MWC Tournament with the coaching staff also being named the MWC Coaching Staff of the Year.  The Lady Blues had a pair of All-Region selections and put 15 student-athletes on the Academic All-Midwest Conference list.

“I am excited to join the Sabre family,” said Moran.  “Marian has a great program with a lot of talent and heart, and I can’t wait to get started and help the team grow both on and off the field.”

Prior to IC, Moran spent time as an assistant coach with the Chicago Cheetahs along with serving as a camp director for Let’s Play 4 U, Illinois, and College Sports Evaluations.

Moran competed collegiately at DePauw University where she was a part of a Tiger team that placed third at the NCAA Division III National Championship in 2021.  She played in 64 games during her career earning the Tiger Pride award for the softball team and entire athletic department in 2024.  Moran was also an NFCA All-American Scholar Athlete in 2022.  Off the field, Moran was an active member of the sports communications department and served as the general manager for D3TV DePauw University.

She graduated from DePauw with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a minor in Media Studies in 2024.
