Merrill earns spot on CSC Academic All-District team

Senior Kaitlyn Merrill of Marian University women’s volleyball has been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team.

The CSC Academic All-American program recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their efforts both in competition and in the classroom.  To be eligible, a student-athlete must compete in half of their team’s games, be a key starter or reserve on their team, and attain a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.5. They must also hold at least sophomore standing at their institution.

Merrill (Livonia, Mich.) earns her first CSC Academic All-District selection after earning back-to-back All-NACC Honorable Mention awards.  She became the first Sabre to earn back-to-back all-conference selections since the 2014-15 seasons.  Merrill was once again a useful weapon offensively for the Sabres ranking second on the squad with her 224 kills, 2.46 kills per set, and 260.5 total points.  She also finished third on the team with 29 blocks, fourth for digs at 123, and fifth on the squad with 20 service aces.  Merrill had 12 matches with double-digit kills posting a season-high 13 against Coe and at Dominican.  She was able to finish her Marian career on a high note recording nine kills, nine digs, and two assisted blocks in the NACC Tournament Quarterfinals against St. Norbert.  Merrill is majoring in exercise and sport science.
