McDermott Honored as NACC Defensive Player of the Week

Junior Alana McDermott of Marian University women’s volleyball has been selected as the NACC Defensive Player of the Week.

McDermott (Dubuque, Iowa) averaged 5.07 digs per set with 76 total digs over 15 sets to pace the Marian defense at the Subway Stinger Classic.  In serve receive, she had just one receiving error on 75 attempts for a .987 percentage.  She opened the tournament with 18 digs in three sets against UW-Superior and then 23 against Hamline.  The 23 would have been her season-high before she tied her career-high with 27 digs in the final match against Martin Luther.

Marian opens the Sandy Schumacher Memorial Tournament, hosted by UW-Eau Claire, against St. Catherine Friday, Sept. 13 at 3 p.m.
