Masks Recommended in Fond du Lac County

Fond du Lac County Health Department continues to emphasize the importance of mask wearing when
out in public throughout the pandemic.

Practicing proven mitigation strategies such as social distancing, hand washing and masking wearing
remain important while vaccination efforts are underway and variants (new strains of the SARS-CoV-2
virus) are circulating in Wisconsin.

“It’s important that we don’t let our guards down yet. We are moving in the right direction, however,
we are not at that point where we can lighten up on the strategies that we know work to reduce the
spread of this virus,” said Kim Mueller, Fond du Lac County Health Officer.

At this point in time, nearly 30% of the Fond du Lac County population has received at least one dose of
the vaccine, which means a majority of the population still remains unprotected and vulnerable to the
virus. The sooner we reach our goal of vaccinating 80% of the community, the sooner we will be able to
return to the life we knew before COVID-19.

Fond du Lac County Health Department strongly recommends all Fond du Lac County community members
practice the following public health recommendations:

  • Wear a face mask that covers you mouth and nose when out in public, unless unable to wear one for
    medical reasons.
  • Practice physical distancing by staying 6 feet apart from others who don’t live with you.
  • Wash hands often with soap and water. Use hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available.
  • Stay home when sick.
  • Avoid crowds and poorly ventilated indoor spaces.
  • Get vaccinated as soon as it is available to you.
