Marian Women’s Volleyball Struggles Against Dominican

Marian University women’s volleyball (8-12, 2-4 NACC) was defeated by Dominican 25-22, 25-22, 20-25, and 25-18.

  • Marian fell behind early in the opening set as Dominican jumped ahead 7-2.
  • The Stars were able to hold onto this lead out to a 17-10 advantage.
  • Marian trailed 23-17 before scoring four straight points to only trail two, but Dominican was able to hold off the rally.
  • The Sabres jumped ahead 8-4 to open the second set, but Dominican responded with a 9-2 spurt to lead 13-10.
  • Marian brought its lead out to 17-15 before the Stars used a 7-1 run to lead 22-18 and eventually take the set.
  • Dominican opened the third set ahead 10-7 but Marian was able to go ahead 14-12 with a 7-2 run.
  • Marian held its lead out to 19-18 and closed out the set strong with a 6-2 spurt to force the fourth.
  • The largest lead to open the fourth set was only four points and saw Dominican lead late 20-18.
  • The Stars would close out the match in a big way scoring the final five points.

  • Marian had at least 11 kills in every set and hit .218 for the match.
  • The Sabres had 55 kills to only 33 for Dominican.
  • Marian also had a 72-57 edge for digs in the match.
  • The Stars had 20 service aces for the match and Marian had 17 service errors.
  • Marian is now 7-18 all-time against Dominican with the Stars taking 13 of the last 14 meetings

Sophomore Ryanne Jasica posted her seventh double-double of the campaign recording a match-high 14 kills with 19 digs.
Freshman Kaylie Engebose finished with 41 assists and 12 digs.
Sophomore Olivia Buol also had a match-high 14 kills.
