Marian women’s volleyball picked 11th in NACC preseason poll

Marian University women’s volleyball received 132 points to finish 11th in the NACC preseason poll, as voted on by the head coaches and sports information directors of the league.

Aurora was picked as the league favorite receiving 377 total points and 17 of the first place votes.  The Spartans claimed a share of the NACC Championship before winning the conference tournament and the automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.  Concordia Wisconsin claimed the other share of the NACC Championship and finished second in the poll at 349 points.  The Falcons also received six of the first place votes.

St. Norbert was the final school to receive multiple first place votes with four and finished with 334 points.  Edgewood claimed the final first place vote and was narrowly edged by the Green Knights at 332.  SNC and Edgewood were also the final two schools with more than 300 points.  Lakeland, Benedictine, and Wisconsin Lutheran all finished with more than 200 points.  IIT and Concordia Chicago followed with 196 and 159 points.  Dominican and Marian rounded out schools with more than 100 points with the Sabres picking up 132 points.  MSOE, Rockford, and Alverno rounded out the poll.

Marian opens the season at the Sugarloaf Classic taking on Saint Mary’s (Minn.), UW-La Crosse, Carleton, and Lawrence in the span of Sept. 1 and Sept. 2.
