Marian women’s volleyball picked 10th in preseason poll

Marian University women’s volleyball received 89 points to finish 10th in the NACC preseason poll.

Edgewood was once again picked as the favorite to win the league receiving 329 points and 21 first-place tallies.  Aurora grabbed four first-place votes and finished above 300 points at 305.  The final first-place vote went to St. Norbert who finished with 273 points to take third.  Lakeland, 262, and Concordia Wisconsin, 250, were the final schools with more than 200 points.

The final NACC Tournament expectants finished closely in Illinois Tech (186), Wisconsin Lutheran (183), and Benedictine.  The first team out of the NACC Tournament, based on the poll, was MSOE at 141 followed by Marian and its 89 points.  Rounding out the poll was Concordia Chicago (79), Rockford (66), and Dominican (43).

The top eight teams will compete in the NACC Tournament with the conference tournament winner earning an automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Tournament.

Marian opens its season at home against Lawrence Tuesday, Sept. 1 for a 7 p.m. non-conference match.
