Marian Women’s Volleyball Offense Dominates in Sweep of Regents

Marian University women’s volleyball (8-10, 2-2 NACC) cruised to a 25-15, 26-24, 25-17 sweep of Rockford behind a dominating offense.

  • It was a bit of a slow start for the Sabres but Marian found themselves ahead 14-11 in the opening set.
  • The Sabres then went on an 8-2 run to pull ahead and take the opener.
  • Rockford had a slim 20-17 late in the second set before Marian used a 7-2 spurt to lead 24-22.
  • The Regents denied the first two set-point chances for Marian but back-to-back kills from sophomore Ryanne Jasica sealed the set.
  • The third set went back-and-forth with Marian managing an 18-17 lead before scoring the next seven points to secure the sweep.

  • Marian finished with a 52-18 edge for kills and 81-61 advantage in digs.
  • The Sabres had at least 17 kills in all three sets.
  • The Marian middle hitters combined for 23 kills and hit .316.
  • Marian is now 14-7 all-time against Rockford and have won the last 11 matches, also the seventh straight sweep.

Sophomore Ryanne Jasica had a match-high 22 digs and added nine kills to nearly boast a double-double.
Junior Harley Bartels had 11 kills without an error to finish with a .611 hitting percentage.
Junior Jenna Butschlick had four total blocks and 12 kills.
