Marian women’s volleyball falls short on final day of Transylvania Invite

Marian University women’s volleyball (3-4, 0-0 NACC) falls to Muskingum in four sets on final day of Transylvania Invite.

MARIAN VS. MUSKINGUM/ 22-25, 25-19, 25-18, 25-11

  • The two teams traded points throughout the first set with Marian on the winning side behind 14 kills on .220 hitting and holding Muskingum to .163.
  • Set two saw Muskingum jump out to a 6-2 lead and would not surrender the lead the rest of the set.
  • Muskingum used the momentum from set two to take set three behind .444 hitting and holding the Sabres to .065.
  • The Sabres never quite got the offense rolling with Muskingum taking a commanding lead to take the match.

  • The Sabres defense had another strong game with the back row having the advantage in digs 63-55.
  • The Sabres committed 30 hitting errors adding four blocks.

Junior Riley Shores led the Sabres offense with 13 kills on .281 hitting percentage and added two aces.
Senior Kaitlyn Merrill recorded nine kills and two block assists.
Sophomore Alana McDermott paced the back row with 17 digs.
