Marian University women’s volleyball (4-21, 3-8 NACC) cruised past Dominican sweeping the Stars 25-14, 25-9, 25-15.

  • Marian wasted no time jumping out to a 12-5 lead in the opening set.
  • A strong finish to the set saw Marian go on an 8-2 spurt to take the opener.
  • Dominican opened the second with a slim 4-2 lead before Marian pulled away with a 12-1 run.
  • Another run of eight unanswered points with senior Lauren Massie at the service line saw Marian cruise to a 2-0 lead.
  • The start of the third saw the Stars score the first four points.
  • Marian was able to hang tough and took the lead at 14-12.
  • The Sabres then put together a 10-1 spurt to any thought of their being a fourth set.

  • Marian had 40 kills and hit .376 in the match with double-digit kills in all three sets.
  • The Sabres defense finished with a 40-28 advantage for digs and held the Stars to an .093 attack percentage.
  • It was the best match of the season for Marian at the service line posting 15 aces.

Senior Lauren Massie had a match-high nine digs and five service aces.
Senior Anja Ungerer posted seven kills and eight digs with two aces.
