Marian University women’s tennis has been predicted to finish ninth in the conference this season after receiving 39 points, as voted on by the head coaches and communications professionals of the conference.
Concordia Wisconsin went undefeated in the regular season and won the conference tournament a season ago. The Falcons have been picked as the favorite receiving 192 points and 14 of the first-place votes. Not far behind was Edgewood who grabbed 184 points and six first-place votes. MSOE and Wisconsin Lutheran followed and were separated by just three points at 144 and 141, respectively. St. Norbert was the final school with at least 100 points finishing fifth at 129, while Illinois Tech rounded out the preseason picks for the conference tournament at 97.
Lakeland was just on the outside at 88 points and were trailed by Concordia Chicago with 64. Marian and Alverno closed out the preseason rankings with 39 and 22 points, respectively.
The winner of the conference tournament will earn an automatic bid into the NCAA Division III National Tournament. New this season, the NCAA has announced a pilot making all duals seven-point matches rather than the previously nine-point matches. Dual matches will still consist of three doubles and six singles flights, but the winner of more doubles matches will only be awarded one point. The following six singles matches will all count for a singular point.
