Marian women’s tennis defeats Lakeland on Senior Day

Marian University women’s tennis (2-8, 2-5 NACC) defeated Lakeland 5-2 on its Senior Day.

  • The Muskies took the top flight of doubles but Marian was able to battle to take the point after wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 flights.
  • Monserrat Luquin and Josephine Bruch earned a 6-2 win at No. 2, while Jennifer Pierga and Savannah Clark won No. 3 6-4.
  • Just like in doubles, Lakeland was able to take the top flight, along with the No. 6 spot, but the Sabres took the majority of singles as well.
  • Hazel Duchemin had the most convincing win with a straight sweep at No. 3.
  • Luquin and Bruch secured sweeps on the day with Luquin taking No. 2 6-1, 6-1, and Bruch the fourth flight 7-5, 6-2.
  • Morgan Hietpas earned her first win at No. 5 singles with a two-set sweep 6-4, 6-2.
  • Marian is now 21-20 all-time against Lakeland with this being the first victory over the Muskies since 2022.
