Marian University women’s tennis (1-1, 1-1 NACC) earned its first win of the season defeating Alverno 5-2.

• Marian split the doubles matches but was able to earn the doubles point with a default win at No. 3.
• Kendall Pliner and Hazel Duchemin teamed up for an 8-1 win at the No. 2 spot to put the Sabres ahead 1-0.
• Then in singles, the No. 5 and No. 6 spots were also won by Marian in default to put MU ahead 3-0.
• The Inferno made things interesting taking the top two singles flights to cut the Marian lead down to one.
• Madeline Chimenti had a perfect 6-0, 6-0 victory at the No. 4 flight and Pliner went on for a 6-1, 6-2 win to hold off the comeback.
• Marian has now won the last seven match-ups with Alverno.
