Marian women’s soccer season comes to end in NACC Tournament quarterfinals

Sixth-seeded Marian University women’s soccer (8-8-4, 5-5-2 NACC) fell in the quarterfinals of the NACC Tournament at the hands of third-seeded Edgewood, 1-0.

  • Edgewood instantly grabbed the lead, with a Kamy Luecke header off the corner kick at 3:29 giving the Eagles the only score of the day.
  • At 17:03, senior Chelsea King made a crucial penalty kick save on Edgewood’s Riley Haertle. 
  • Marian was limited to two shots on goal in the first half, as the Sabres went into the break down 1-0.
  • King had a huge second half, recording five saves, including three in the first seven minutes of the half.

Junior Emily Gordillo led the Sabres in shots with three, including one shot on goal. 
Junior Ysabella Sanchez recorded two shots and played in all 90 minutes.
