Marian University women’s soccer (5-3-3, 4-2-0 NACC) posted its third shutout of the season defeating Rockford 2-0.

- The opening stanza was a defensive battle with neither team finding a rhythm on the offensive side of the ball.
- Marian was able to build momentum at the end of the first half with a couple of corner kicks and shots.
- This led Marian to open the scoring just 4:44 into the second half with junior Abby Larson scoring her fourth goal of the season.
- Freshman Emily Gordillo then netted her fourth goal of the season in the 69th minute to put Marian ahead 2-0. Seniors Lillian Giron and Rosa Lezotte each earned an assist on the goal.
- The Sabre defense then took over sealing the third shutout of the year for Marian.

- Marian held a hefty advantage in shots at 27-3 with a 15-1 edge for shots on goal.
- Along with only allowing three shots, the Sabre defense only gave up one corner-kick opportunity for the Regents.
- The Sabres have now won 14 straight games against Rockford with 11 of those wins being shutouts.
- Marian is 3-1-1 over its last five games and is currently tied for third in the conference with 12 points.
