Marian women’s lacrosse snaps skid with home win

Marian University women’s lacrosse (4-8, 1-3 NACC) snapped a five-game skid defeating Illinois Tech 20-10 at home.

  • Marian started strong scoring the first three goals of the game in the first 3:43 of action.
  • Tech was able to cut its deficit to one, but the Sabres scored four of the next six goals to lead 7-4 going into the second period.
  • The Scarlet Hawks played well to open the second quarter and only trailed 8-6 with 2:30 on the clock.
  • Back-to-back goals from the Sabres put Marian ahead 10-6 going into halftime.
  • After the Scarlet Hawks cut their deficit down to 11-8, Marian scored four of the final five goals of the third period to lead 15-9 going into the final stanza.
  • The final 15 minutes was dominated by the Sabres as Marian outscored Tech 5-1.
  • Sophomore Cielo Martinez had four of the Marian goals, two of which were woman-up.
