Marian women’s lacrosse keeps pace with MSOE

Marian University women’s lacrosse (2-10, 1-4 NACC) was tied at halftime with MSOE but fell to the Raiders 14-8.

  • MSOE opened the scoring with a 2-0 lead before sophomore Justice Cole scored back-to-back goals to even the score at the end of the first.
  • The Raiders retook the lead with 12:50 left in the second quarter but Marian quickly responded.
  • Freshman Talia Bellotti was able to find the back of the net twice in a row to give Marian its first lead of the game.
  • The two squads traded goals the rest of the quarter with freshman Elizabeth Van Ryzin scoring twice to put the score at 7-7 going into halftime.
  • The Raiders then scored the first three goals of the third quarter to quickly take a 10-7 advantage.
  • Bellotti was able to trim the Sabre deficit to two headed into the fourth quarter, but MSOE added four goals in the final quarter to put the final at 14-8.

  • The Sabres had a tough time on the clear only going 14-of-26 (.538).
  • The Raiders had a slim 28-27 edge for ground balls and a 16-8 advantage in draw controls.
  • Each team had four chances on free-position attempts with Marian scoring once and MSOE twice.
  • MSOE takes a 2-1 lead in the all-time series with back-to-back wins.
  • This was the first meeting between the two teams at Smith Field.
