Marian women’s lacrosse defeats Elmhurst for first win

Marian University women’s lacrosse (1-2, 0-0 NACC) earned its first win of the season defeating Elmhurst 8-7.

  • A strong start saw Marian jump ahead 5-1 with 5:05 left in the second period.
  • Senior Nicole Stachon netted three of the goals, while freshman Chloe Yanez and junior Rebecca Larson scored the first goals of their careers.
  • After a Blue Jay woman-up goal, the Sabres went into halftime ahead 5-2.
  • Elmhurst opened the second half with two goals to cut its deficit to one.
  • Stachon would find the back of the net for the final goal of the third to put Marian ahead 6-4 going into the final quarter.
  • The Blue Jays were able to trim its deficit to one on three occasions in the final quarter.
  • A score from senior Emma Heide with 4:45 remaining proved to be enough for the Sabres to earn a win.
