Marian women’s ice hockey wins second straight overtime game

Marian University women’s ice hockey  (7-7-0, 4-5-0 NCHA) defeated Aurora 2-1 in overtime in a second straight overtime game.

  • The opening period was as even as it could be with nothing decided after 20 minutes of action.
  • The Sabres were able to strike first when junior Kaitlyn Quinn scored without an assist with 4:22 left in the second period.
  • The Marian lead held until 6:46 remained in the third when the Spartans scored a 5-on-3 power-play goal.
  • Marian had three shots in the final 1:08 of the game but headed to overtime for the third time this season.
  • The Sabres dominated most of the overtime session and eventually scored the game-winner with 44.7 seconds left.
