Marian University women’s ice hockey (13-12-0, 9-9-0 NCHA) earned the No. 5 seed for the NCHA Slaats Cup Playoffs after a 2-1 overtime defeat against No. 10/12 CUW.
- Concordia Wisconsin opened the scoring with 7:57 left in the opening period but the lead lasted just 1:56 before Marian knotted the score.
- Sophomore Zowie Hunter continued her strong campaign lighting the lamp with an assist from senior Logan Crawford.
- That proved to be the only scoring for regulation as the two squads headed to overtime.
- The two sides traded a pair of shots off the pipe in a span of 15 seconds.
- The Falcons were eventually able to take the extra point scoring with 1:24 left in overtime.
- Shots favored CUW by a margin of 46-28.
- Face-offs were also in favor of the Falcons by a clip of 40-24.
- Neither side had a power-play goal with Marian having four chances and CUW two.
- The Sabres earn the No. 5 seed for the NCHA Slaats Cup Playoffs by a total wins tiebreaker over MSOE.
- This is the first time Marian has earned points at CUW since 2021.
