Marian women’s golf finishes second at NACC Championship; Lu earns medalist honors

Marian University women’s golf had a 351 and 328 to finish second at the NACC Championship with a four-round total of 1,373.

  • The 351 in the third round helped build a cushion for the Sabres at second before firing the best round of the NACC Championship with a 328.  It was also the second-lowest round of the season for Marian.
  • Freshman Yinan Lu capped off her medalist award recording a 79 and 78 to go with her 75 and 78 from the first two rounds to finish at 310.  She won medalist honors by 12 strokes and was the only golfer to finish below 80 in more than two rounds.
  • Lu becomes the first medalist in Marian women’s golf history and the second NACC Freshman of the Year in program history.
  • Fellow freshman Olivia Schueller had a strong finish carding an 88 and a 79, her lowest round of the season, to finish in 12th.
  • Junior Kayla Gray continued her consistent play going 93, 88, 89, and 88 to finish in 17th.
  • Freshman Katelyn Bucciarelli improved by 12 strokes between rounds with a 95 and 83, her lowest round of the season, to take 22nd.
  • Senior Lilly Accola had a 13-stroke improvement carding a 101 and 88, tied for her lowest round of the season.
  • Fellow senior Ashley Graves closed out the Marian lineup with a 102 and 92 in the final two rounds, a 10-stroke improvement.
