Marian women’s bowling wins GLBC regular season and tournament titles

Marian University women’s bowling completed GLBC play winning the regular season and tournament titles for the conference.

  • Marian dominated the final GLBC event of the season scoring 4,919 in traditional followed by 3,188 pins in Baker.
  • This gave the Sabres a 197.7 average, more than 16 pins higher than the second place team.
  • The Sabres had three games with more than 1,000 pins in traditional action with a high of 1,060 in its second game.
  • Then in Baker format, the Sabres opened with an 880 and had at least 755 pins in all four sets.
  • The Sabres averaged 220.0 pins in the first set with at least 216 in three of the four games.
  • This put Marian at 34-2 for the entire regular season earning Marian the top seed for the tournament.
  • After a bye in the opening round, Marian was able to defeat Wisconsin 245-157, 176-183, 209-169 to earn a spot in the championship.
  • The Sabres were pitted against the second-seed Rock Valley in the championship and dropped the opening game 192-182.
  • Marian bounced back in a big way, however, recording at least 204 in the next three games to earn the tournament title.

Senior Brenna Schiekiera earned All-Conference recognition finishing third with a 191.6 average.
Junior Kyley Olson finished league play in fourth to earn All-GLBC honors with a 191.42 average.
Senior Jocelynn Eggert took home an All-GLBC award averaging 186.7 to finish fifth.
Sophomore Delanie Vogt was named Second Team All-GLBC after finishing ninth with a 178.32 average.
